Meshable 003: Well Balanced, Even Better Cased

Some brands, even when they are a micro brand, just get it, and Meshable just proved with the 003 that they are among them. Kickstarter has been flooded lately with watches that are being sold under the term of being "minimalist" while in fact, they seemed to be ordered straight from Alibaba in bulk. MOTION: German Creativity Let Loose

Isn't it interesting how creative many microbrands are regarding design? Look at brands like CJR, Pheidippides or SAStek; they really reset the boundaries for affordable watches. Another brand that does that is Manyears, with the Motion. Based in Mannheim, Germany, they applied a refreshing look to the design of this watch. They worked with different discs to indicate the time. This by itself is not something new, since other brands had done it before, but not the way Manyears did it with the Motion. With the hour hand occupying the center disc, a red seconds hand floating above it, the minute hand is actually placed on half a disc. Retrospect Review: Don Kylne Chaplin

Sometimes it is good to let things sink in a bit and then look over them again. We already reported on the Chaplin when it was launched, about a year ago. In that past year not only many people received their Chaplin, but also a lot of new brands and models were launched. Did the Don Kylne Chaplin hold its ground? First impressions are always important, yet then can be very deceptive. Like when I first saw the TIMe22 Robusto. The affordable watch world has its fair share of heavyweight champions, but I thought that we found a new one in this watch. One that actually would send me to the gym before I could even consider wearing one. Fortunately, I was wrong. The Robusto is big (45mm) and blunt in its design. It is an imposing watch, that turns out to be a gentle giant.
