Isotope Goutte d’Eau Compressor Diver Watch

Isotope Goutte d’Eau Compressor Diver Watch

Review
We start the year with a new contributor and here is his first article…. Oh yes, welcome Giuseppe ;-) We already talked about their really cool Rider Jumping Hours, but here we will present something different ! Today I would like to present you a really cool Diver watch from Isotope, The Goutte d'Eau!  This watch has a nice concept history and a design approach that is quite timeless. In fact, The Goutte d’Eau shape takes inspiration from the design of the 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS Coupé, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever built. This watch has also another interesting feature, a bespoke and exclusive stainless steel bracelet with a discreet extension clasp mechanism that allows you to quickly change the bracelet size to wear over a…

Last of 2020 – Rogue Horology Type 1 Diver

Review
Finally we arrive at the end of this very bizarre year ... We must admit that the Covid has turned everything upside down and for us watch journalists the year was really strange ... No trade fairs, no real contact with people, difficulties in trying on watches, and so on. Well, it was the same thing for everyone and even if 2021 arrives I'm not sure there will be any real improvements. It does not matter, Watchisthis will continue to disseminate information about watches under $ 2500, microbrands, but not just that ... And yes it is an announcement, we will also evolve in 2021. And to end this year I wanted to highlight to a project that I really like. This is Rogue Horology from Singapore. Well I’m honest…

Stop everything, here’s the Feynman Cove

Stop everything, here’s the Feynman Cove

Review
I think that the title of this article says it all… The Feynman Cove is just a bomb. Some months ago I wrote a review about the One Eclipse and I was already speechless about the quality and the beauty of this piece. But now, the Cove… oh guys this watch is a stunner.I received the piece some weeks ago and I can't take it off my wrist anymore. It’s probably one of best watches I had the chance to try this year. The watch that Yong Keong Lim sent me is the Cove Vintage. At first I would prefer the Founder’s Edition (green) or the Eclypse (blue) because I really like colorful watches. But when I opened the parcel and saw this deep black watch, I immediately fell in…

Review – EZA Sealander Black Watch

Story, Uncategorized
For those who follow me on the social networks you know the bad thing that happened to me some weeks ago. Someone stole a watch in a package that I received from EZA Watches for a review !! Yes I was soooo upset… The package was opened and unfortunately the watch was stolen. The thief left the case, but no more watch inside. This was a very disturbing situation for me as this was the first time in 11 years of activity in the watch industry that this happened to me.But this was just the start of this bad story. Indeed, some days after that, Adriaan (owner of the brand) decided to send me another sample of the 1972 for a review… But you know what ? The parcel never arrived…

A Swiss watch created for adventurers and explorers – Laventure Marine

A Swiss watch created for adventurers and explorers – Laventure Marine

News
Everyone has an adventurous spirit hidden inside. Some of us have the luck to follow this spirit and fulfil our dreams. Inspired by the books of Jules Verne, Clement Gaud, an independent designer, photographer and filmmaker based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, took his journey to a next level. He wanted to create a watch that inspires adventures and that makes them happen – Laventure Marine.     The first series of Laventure watches are inspired by the diving watches of the 60’s, paying a tribute to the marine world. Laventure Marine was designed in Neuchâtel and manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, in two locations separated by only 18km. The watch comes in 41mm diameter steel case decorated with a game of polished and satin finishes. The beautiful case reminds of…

3000m under the sea – Andersmann Deep Ocean

News
Andersmann is a young brand born from passion. It all started with a diver watch given, many years ago, by a father to his son. The happy kid grew up to be a dive watch collector adult. Later, an idea was born: to create watches to fulfil all the wished heavy specifications at affordable prices. In 2014, Raymond Chan, the happy kid, founded the Andersmann brand. The intention was clear: superior quality dive watches with the best available Swiss made movements. Now, the brand is in the third year of existence and has three collections: Oceanmaster I, Oceanmaster II and Deep Ocean. The watch we are presenting today is the latest addition to the Deep Ocean collection: the Ref. ANN0982. [caption id="attachment_3129" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Andersmann ANN0982 is a true diver…

Special offer on all Florijn watches

Special offer on all Florijn watches

News
Some watches are the result of a true labor of love, carefully developed with an eye for detail, with few expenses spared. Such watches usually reside in the higher price categories, but not always. It took two years for Florijn to develop its first, and currently only, model. A diver by name, but a desk diver in reality. That is actually a compliment because most diver watches are built to withstand rough seas, and depths even a nuclear submarine wouldn’t dare to go, yet the closest they ever get to water is when their owner washes their hands. The Florijn is not such a watch. It can most certainly stand its ground amongst the elite of diver’s watches, but chooses not to. Instead it focusses on being an all-round desk…

Damien Koch – Owner and Designer of HOF Watches

Damien Koch – Owner and Designer of HOF Watches

News
We talked with Damien Koch – Owner and Designer of HOF Watches some months ago. We really like what he is doing with his brand. With passion as his fuel, Damien is a rising star in the independent horology scene. We were fortunate enough to sit with him and talk about his brand. He said to us things like « It took two and a half years to achieve the SEASHORE, and when you look at it, at the first glance, you find it “simple” and efficient. » It is quite extraordinary to note that Damien Koch, owner of HOF watches, is an independent watchmaker who works alone and who designed the watch, made the plans, managed the manufacturing of the parts, and finally assembles it all by himself. Damien loves a…

The rise of the machines – Alpina Seastrong Horological Smartwatch

The rise of the machines – Alpina Seastrong Horological Smartwatch

News
Smartwatches have now a few years of history - from the first connected watches, the Seiko RC Series in 1984 till the well-known Apple watch, the smart watches are considered by some the future of watchmaking, but this remains to be seen... Personally, I prefer to have a classic watch at my wrist, it doesn’t matter if it’s quartz or pure mechanical. I am tight to the telling time hands, I like to see them move and even if I have a smartwatch, I end up by wearing a watch at one wrist and a fitness band at the other’s wrist. I was very happy to hear, in 2015, about the appearance of the first series of Swiss Horological Smartwatches: Frederique Constant, Mondaine and Alpina using the new Horological Smartwatch…

Unit 7: A Solid Diver

Unit 7: A Solid Diver

News
What happens when you put a group of watch industry professionals together to create a dive watch? You get a real solid product like the diver Unit 7 has created. In fact, they were probably so busy with all the technical and cosmetic specs that they even apparently forgot to give the actual watch a name. And that is okay because that seems to be the only flaw of this diver. With a diameter of 45.5mm, it is a substantial watch, but the designers of Unit 7 went for a more cushion shaped case which keeps the watch wearable, even when you have a smaller wrist. It also gives them the real estate to underscore some of the details on the watch, such as the lugs or the polished edge…
