During the last few days I had the chance to spend some time with the new BIOTIC Formicidae which is currently on Kickstarter. I'll be totally honest, at first I didn't understand why Ryan Lee (Founder of the brand) had chosen a name like this one. In France, we know the Biotic Phocea laboratories, which is known as the reference on the French market for pigments for medical dermo-pigmentation and permanent make-up. These last days I had the chance to try the Kaal Multiverse and honestly it’s a stunner. If you want a conversation piece at reasonable price, then this one is for you. So now this is your last chance to get this pretty cool automatic watch. Indeed, the Kickstarter campaign of Jubileon will end on the 8th September. For the moment, they have not reached their goal ... Well, no matter, they will be able to try again later and I am convinced that it will be a success. We are in August and sure thing is that I never saw so many new brands in our industry than this year...and yet Straits Foundry, another new microbrand, will be launched next September. It is true that the industry is suffering this year, but paradoxically, we see more and more small brands making their big debut... Interesting thing is that they often provide original and quality products. Unlike many young brands, Straits Foundry will sell their watches directly on their website and without going through Kickstarter. When we see the success of brands launched on the crowdfunding platforms, we are entitled to ask if this is the right strategy.
