In talk with Jacob Andra – SOMA Horology Marketplace

Interview
SOMA Horology Marketplace is the new exciting thing in the watch industry. For some people and some brands it was obvious to join this platform directly while some others are still thinking about it with the questions in the corner of their heads : “How does it work ? Have I to jump on it ?“… And at the end they say : “Why the hell I’m not already on it ?“ Today at Watchisthis we are glad to share with you an interview of Jacob Andra, one of the co-founders of this new platform. It’s quite long but believe me it’s worth the reading time ;-) [caption id="attachment_3676" align="aligncenter" width="632"] Left : Jacob Andra from SOMA - Right : Armand Billard from Sartory Billard Watches[/caption]   Watchisthis : As…

Interesting move for Auguste Reymond

Interesting move for Auguste Reymond

News
As far as I know Kickstarter was always intended for start-ups but now Swiss brand Auguste Reymond decided to jump on it. When Christopher Ward and Morgan Motor Company team up

News
Last November Christopher Ward and Morgan Motor Company announced their exciting partnership that gives the possibility to the British brand to take inspiration from the craftsmanship and engineering that sits at the heart of the Morgan philosophy. The brand created in 2004 has already released several successful watches inspired by classic cars but now with this natural collaboration they can show their pride in their British heritage and design. It’s never easy to have one eye on the past with the elegant and classic designs, and one eye on the future with the cutting-edge engineering, but we can count on Christopher Ward to propose…

Microbrand Marketing: A Few Tips

Microbrand Marketing: A Few Tips

Opinion
Recently I have seen quite a few very promising watch models by not reaching their crowd funding thresholds. The reason why? Marketing. With the micro brand cosmos filling rapidly up with new stars, you are not automatically the brightest anymore just by being there. You will need to actively pursuit customers, and here are a few tips: Marketing starts before almost anything else Most micro brands treat marketing like an afterthought. When they have received the first prototypes they start thinking of how they are actually going to sell them. You'll be surprised how often that answer is "Kickstarter", but crowdfunding websites are a sales channel, can be part of your marketing but is by no means an all-in-one marketing solution. Marketing starts with analyzing the marketplace, preferably before you…
