Today, Friday, November 21 2025, marks the launch of the HMS 002 ARA, the latest creation of Timeless Swiss Watch.
Presented for the first time to the general public during the Timezones Dubai Event, this new piece is available for pre-order directly at the show and will be delivered in early spring 2026.
So now let’s have a quick look to the specs. Oh yes, just a quick note: disregard the images mentioning HMS 003. Those photos are of the prototype and this one use a 003 case instead of the 002… But at the end, they’re the same cases, so don’t worry 😉
The Case
As you already know, Timeless watches have a distinctive design that is instantly recognizable.
The 316L stainless steel case measures 41.5mm in diameter, 12.8mm in thickness, and 46.1mm lug to lug.
The watch’s measurements can be misleading, as it actually fits smaller than you might expect. Personally, I have a 17 cm (6.7 inch) wrist, and it sits perfectly on it. This is thanks to Mael Oberkampf’s ingenious design, which features plunging lugs.
Furthermore, the closed case back is curved to complement the curve of the domed sapphire crystal. Quite honestly, on the wrist, it looks and feels much smaller than its stated dimensions.
Let’s delve a little deeper into the details of this piece, as there are many.
First, we’ll observe the different types of finishes. The sides of the case have a circular satin finish, the bezel, which has a curved design, features a sandblasted finish, and finally, we can see that the gold rings around the lugs have a polished finish.
Next, and not least (I told you there were a lot of details).
Two tiny gold-toned screws hold a small plaque in place at the nine o’clock position on which the model reference number, « HMS No 002, » is displayed on this little plaque (prototype shows 003 at the moment). The inspiration behind this plaque comes from old trains, which also displayed a sign on the side of the carriages.
The crown is located at three o’clock and is build in 3 parts. Outside its teeth are black PVD covered. Inside there’is the logo made off stainless steel and finally at the center you will see a little gold-colored circle. Honnestly, this is all really beautifully done; it’s incredibly elegant and complex.
Dial
Clearly, the dial is the main attraction of this watch. The very thin bezel (2mm) allows for a large opening onto the dial.
A stunning white rehaut encircles its perimeter; it measures 6 mm in width, and a railroad-style minute track extends along the entire edge. The track slightly opens every five minutes, disclosing the minute numeral in fine print. Inside this track are the hour numerals, displayed in a really original typeface that harmoniously enhances the overall design. This font has been created by Mael Oberkampf and it’s a comtemporary reinterpretation of Arabic typography.
At the center of the dial, and of course the biggest part, you will see the iconic guilloché pattern of the Timeless HMS wacthes. For this new ARA version the color chosen has been the green.
The intricate pattern is really deep and give you the possibility to play with the light as you move the watch at different angles. At 12 o’clock fo this dial there’s a plaque displaying the company name, and finally at 6 o’clock, there’s the date window with the model name written underneath. Above this date apperture there’s a second saphhire crystal which works as a loup.
At the center of the dial is an opening featuring the Timeless wheel logo. This logo is linked to the hour hand and moves when you set the time. Just about this logo there’s a small bridge whose function is to wind the hands. It is extremely important because otherwise the hands would have had to be shorter due to the inclined rehaut.
The hands are also unique and designed exclusively for Timeless watches. They are skeletonized and have a sandblasted finish.
Movement
The watch is powered by the Swiss automatic STP STP1-11 Caliber. This movement features 26 jewels, operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and has a power reserve of approximately 44 hours. The STP1-11 movement is considered as an ETA 2824-2 movement clone.
The STP tech sheets claim an accuracy rating of -0/+15 seconds per day, operating within a max amplitude of 320 degrees and minimum amplitude of 200 degrees. Each movement is tested in 5 positions, which is comparable to the ETA 2824-2 Top grade.
Strap
With this new version of the HMS 002 there’s also the totally new custom milanese mesh strap. Timeless unveiled this new bracelet at the beginning of July 2025. Previously, the watches were sold with a calfskin leather strap, but the Swiss brand wanted to offer a steel alternative. Far from simply creating a bracelet, they opted for a Milanese mesh design that perfectly conforms to the wearer’s wrist.
A choice that is truly consistent with Timeless’s design ideas, as the Mesh watch band became popular in the 1970s, and as we have seen, the watch is inspired by the past.
After Thoughts
Like all watches from the Lausanne-based brand, this new HMS 002 ARA stands out for its unique character and numerous details.
Following the presentation last June of the two summer versions, AZUR and TERRA, this new ARA completes the HMS range.
Its price is CHF 1500 (approximately €1614 / USD 1859 / AED 6821).
