The lovely Terra Cielo Mare Milano San Babila

The lovely Terra Cielo Mare Milano San Babila

Magazine
Some weeks ago I had the chance to meet Eric Delicati who is distributor of the Italian brand Terra Cielo Mare. This brand is not really visible today because of a lack of communication but honestly it’s a brand on which you should have a look. For the record, Terra Cielo Mare is a family business that produces watches for enthusiast and collectors since 1999. The interesting thing is that behind everyone of their watches there’s a real story to tell. That means that they try to develop and narrate the history of aviation, naval, mechanical engineering and Italy through Haute Horlogerie. That’s not the most common thing in todays watch industry. Indeed, most of the time, a designer draws a watch and then the marketing director says : “Ok,…

How to use the little pocket of your jeans

How to use the little pocket of your jeans

Vintage
In our dressing we all have a pair of jeans and it's easy to say that it's the perfect companion no matter what we do (except the sport of course). Well, it's simple, despite the many modes that pass, the jeans never passes. It seems that pocket watches are making a big comeback as a lot of watch enthusiasts are looking for something different, and so it's time to tell you about their shared history. You see this little pocket that is sewn inside the biggest one that is at the front of your jeans? You know that little pocket on your jeans? The one that doesn't really function as a pocket due to its tiny, tiny size, that sits inside a real pocket which actually has a real function.…

Scott Marsh and Bausele – The Art Of Time

Scott Marsh and Bausele – The Art Of Time

News
Last April Australian brand Bausele presented a funky collaboration with Australian fine artist Scott Marsh. Scott is an artist usually associated with thought-provoking murals, addressing everything from environmental issues and same-sex-marriage, to the cult of celebrity. He is also becoming increasingly acclaimed for his fine art, particularly the interesting way he fuses traditional techniques and subject matter, with the spontaneity of raw graffiti. He has the reputation to be one of the most talented graffiti writers of his generation. And now, Marsh’s work is about to be celebrated in a bold new watch collection by home-grown horological company, Bausele. “I was looking to work with an Australian artist and as soon as I met Scott, I knew he was the one,” says Christophe Hoppe, the French-born, Swiss-raised-Sydneysider who founded Bausele…

The 40’s still amaze us with some treasures

The 40’s still amaze us with some treasures

Vintage
The 1940s are indisputably one of the golden decades for watch design. Benefitting from being preceded by both the hugely influential Bauhaus design school and the Art Deco eras; watches from the 1940s developed an identity of their own, becoming recognisable for their simplicity, style and class. This decade in particular is known for its outstandingly beautiful chronographs, which are highly sought after by many collectors (with increasingly deep pockets). Quite remarkable really, that so many fine watches were conceived in the 1940s; for half of that period Europe was embroiled in the resource-draining effects of World War II, where both materials and of course labour were under stress. Although the fact that neutral Switzerland avoided widespread bombing (unlike Germany and France), probably helped its watchmaking industry weather the storm…

From New-York with Love : The Martenero Kerrison

News
Today I decided to write about a new successful Kickstarter project. This one is from Martenero Watches. A young company based in New-York City and founded back in 2014 by John Tarantino. I follow their work from a long time right now and for one main reason – The originality which is one of their core value. Their design philosophy revolves around creating clean and modern designs that stand apart through subtle details and unique colorways. I admit that I’ve been a fan of their Edgemere collection for a long time, so when I heard about this new campaign I was quite excited. And finaly I had the chance to try the new Kerrison during Wind’Up watch show in NYC some weeks ago. This one takes the same design code…

Kickstarter – The Jubileon Superellipse

News
So now this is your last chance to get this pretty cool automatic watch. Indeed, the Kickstarter campaign of Jubileon will end on the 8th September. For the moment, they have not reached their goal ... Well, no matter, they will be able to try again later and I am convinced that it will be a success. Honestly I don’t really understand why this campaign is not a big success right now... Because the watch is affordable, it has good specs and more than this, it has contemporary and classic design suitable for everyday use. I had the chance to try one and seriously the piece is really cool and it fits perfectly any wrist thanks to it size of 41 mm wide and 11.9 mm thick. The case is…
