The New Stowa Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B

In June 2024, the German brand Stowa presented its new model – The Stowa Verus 40 Baumuster B.

So yes it’s a model that’s already a few months old but I wanted to talk about it today.

From an essential tool to a stylish daily timepiece, the pilot’s watch is one of the most popular watch genres ever.

Its distinctive design and its exciting history – when man first flew to the air, watches became an essential tool. That’s the first reasons for its popularity.

History of the Baumuster B

The large original pilot watch in 55 mm case size, in the Baumuster B version by STOWA, is one of the rarest, large pilot watches ever. Most likely only 42 pieces were built. Both original STOWA pilot watches can be seen in the museum in Pforzheim. The movement of the pilot watch was very precise and was made by Unitas (caliber 2812). Today, they again use Unitas movements in a part of their pilot watch collection (caliber 6498). (Text by Stowa)

The design of the new Flieger Verus 40 Baumuster B follows exactly the original design of the Baumuster B from 1942. For example, the luminous numerals and the luminous triangle (arrow) at 12 o’clock – an aid to orientation at night.

Luminous

The large, modern and clear dial makes it easy to read the time, even at night ! The Superluminova BGW9 luminous material guarantees the best luminosity of the numbers and hands. This material has a white color in daylight. In the dark, the elements take on a light blue color. The brightness is around 95% in direct comparison with the Superluminova C3. The lighting duration of the Superluminova BGW9 is longer than that of the Superluminova C3.

A date window is also available as an option for all movement variants to ensure optimal everyday use.

The price varies from €1110 to €960 depending on the movement you choose.
