Ball Engineer III Silver & Bronze Star: Rugged Quality

Ball Engineer III Silver & Bronze Star: Rugged Quality

News
With the introduction of the Ball Engineer III Silver Star and Bronze Star the American brand shows that it can make a mean pilot watch. Their latest addition to the collection might be called Engineer, but perhaps Aviator would have been a better name. This might seem like a criticism but is, in fact, a compliment because Ball makes one amazing pilot's watch! The design approach Ball took was to look primarily at the purpose of this watch. Legibility scores then very high and that is the well-known terrain for Ball with their tritium gas tube technology which doesn't need to be exposed to the light to be visible in darker conditions. Set in the hands and on the hour markers they aid the bold Arabic numerals which are filled…

Estonia 1918: Celebrating With A Special Watch

News
Creating a watch is one thing, but doing so to commemorate the centennial anniversary of your country is a whole other thing. Yet that is exactly what Tõnis Leissoo did when he created the Wõitleja. This watch is limited to....you guessed it!...100 pieces! Such a celebration asks for a special watch and Leissoo seems to have no problem delivering just that! In a military inspired design, he created a watch that makes quite a visual impression. This is a direct reference to the war of independence that Estonia fought. Crafted from CuSn8 Bronze the case is 44mm in diameter and secured with special, titanium screws in all four corners. The craftsmanship on the case is of a ridiculous high level, and made in Estonia! Inside the watch ticks an upgraded…

Zelos Hammerhead; More Than Just A Diver

Zelos Hammerhead; More Than Just A Diver

News
The new diver by Zelos watches is far from subtle. But that is exactly what is so much fun about it! Zelos named the watch "Hammerhead", and although I get the reference, the watch is far more attractive than the shark it's named after. The diver looks large and bulky, and does not apologizes for that. If it was a dress watch that would be unforgivable, but with a diver like the Hammerhead it would have been like Sylvester Stallone apologizing for his muscles. Quite frankly, the dimensions of the Hammerhead are not even that monstrous. The case is 44mm excluding the crown, and the height is 17mm. However, crafted in a 1970's fashion, does the Hammerhead almost completely fill up these measurements. The cut angles on the case, make…

Victory, that’s also what we hope Pheidippides Watches achieves, as they make their grand entry into the world of watches by launching the Porthole timepiece. The brand based in the Netherlands started in 2015 with creativity as a lead motiv. For this new brand, Rogier van de Ree has designed three timepieces: The Inkpot, The Porthole and The Hourglass.
