There are few characters in popular culture as instantly recognizable as Snoopy. Since his first appearance in Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts in 1950, the lovable beagle has become a global icon, appearing everywhere from comic strips and animation to fashion, art and, of course, watchmaking.
The latest collaboration between Timex and Peanuts brings Snoopy into one of Timex’s most characterful vintage-inspired collections : the Marlin. The Peanuts x Timex Marlin Chronograph TW2Y85300 combines the unmistakable charm of Snoopy and Woodstock with a distinctly 1960s racing aesthetic.
Rather than simply placing a cartoon character on a dial, Timex has created a watch where the Peanuts universe and the retro motorsport-inspired design genuinely work together. A blue sunray dial, racing stripe, tachymeter scale and chronograph functionality give the watch a surprisingly sporty personality, while Snoopy and Woodstock provide the playful touch that makes this collaboration immediately recognizable.
And there is an especially nice historical detail: the number “50” on the chronograph sub-dial references 1950, the year in which Peanuts first appeared.
The Case
The watch retains the unmistakable proportions of the modern Marlin Chronograph, with a 40mm polished stainless-steel case. With a lug-to-lug measurement of 48mm and a thickness of 13.5mm, it sits firmly in contemporary territory while preserving the mid-century character that defines the Marlin family.
The polished silver-tone finishing gives the case a clean and elegant appearance, allowing the blue dial to take center stage.
One of the most appealing elements is the domed acrylic crystal. While sapphire would obviously offer greater scratch resistance, acrylic is completely consistent with the vintage inspiration behind the Marlin. It brings warmth and distortion to the dial and can even be polished if it picks up scratches over time.
The watch is also rated to 50 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for everyday wear and light swimming, although it is not intended for snorkeling or diving.
The Dial
This is undoubtedly where the watch comes alive.
The blue sunray dial provides a rich background for a distinctly retro racing-inspired layout. A bold racing stripe crosses the dial, while the tachymeter scale around the perimeter reinforces the motorsport theme.
The chronograph configuration gives the watch a more technical appearance, but Timex has cleverly integrated the Peanuts characters without making the dial feel overcrowded.

The Movement
Inside the Marlin Chronograph is a quartz analog chronograph movement. This is perhaps the least romantic aspect of the watch for traditional mechanical-watch enthusiasts, but it makes perfect sense for a fun, everyday chronograph designed around accessibility and practicality.
Quartz offers excellent accuracy, low maintenance and reliable operation. The chronograph function can be activated using the two pushers on the side of the case, allowing the wearer to measure elapsed time. The tachymeter scale can then be used to calculate average speed over a known distance.

In other words, this isn’t trying to compete with a high-end mechanical racing chronograph. Instead, it delivers the functionality and retro aesthetic of one while keeping the ownership experience simple.
The Strap
Timex has equipped the watch with a 20mm blue perforated natural leather strap supplied by S.B. Foot Tanning Company.
The perforations are particularly appropriate here. They reinforce the racing inspiration of the watch while also helping with breathability and comfort during everyday wear.
The blue leather matches the dial and creates a coherent visual package, while the quick-release spring bars make changing straps possible without tools.
This is an important detail because the Marlin’s relatively traditional case design should work particularly well with alternative leather, suede or even racing-style straps. A simple strap change could dramatically alter the personality of the watch.
The Collection
The TW2Y85300 is not the only Peanuts x Timex Marlin Chronograph.
Timex also offers the Peanuts x Timex Marlin Chronograph Joe Cool, reference TW2Y48500. This 40mm version takes a darker approach, pairing a black dial and leather strap with the instantly recognizable Joe Cool version of Snoopy. It retains the vintage Marlin aesthetic, domed acrylic crystal and chronograph functionality.
Beyond the chronograph models, the wider Peanuts x Timex collection is considerably larger. Timex currently lists dozens of Peanuts collaborations, including Marlin Automatic models, hand-wound Marlins, Q Timex models, M79, T80, Legacy and other Snoopy-themed watches.

It would have been easy for Timex to create a conventional Marlin and simply add Snoopy artwork to the dial. For collectors who grew up with Peanuts, the appeal is obvious. But even for someone with no particular interest in Snoopy, this Marlin Chronograph has enough genuine vintage-racing character to stand on its own.
