From an Autosport legend to modern watches – Direnzo DRZ_Type250F

Founded just two years ago as an homage to family and vintage race cars, Direnzo Watches promises exquisite design and excellent quality. The story of Direnzo starts years in the past in the small town of Bomba near the Abruzzo, in the province of Chieti, Italy with the grandfather of Sergio Godoy Di Renzo – Founder of DIRENZO watches. Sergio honors his name and the family’s heritage by creating a legacy.

The Type 250F watches has a deep root in the race cars of the ‘40s and ‘50s that made history: more precisely the exceptionally automobile that was the Maserati 250F driven to the victory of Formula 1 Grand Prix race of Nürburgring by Juan Manuel Fangio. With such a muse, these timepieces can only have an elegant look. Packed in a 40mm diameter polished 316L stainless steel, the Type 250F reminds of the panel instrumentation of a vintage race car.

The lugs are straight and slender with a subtle chamfering and increase the case’s overall size to 48mm (lug to lug). The top is covered with 1.5mm doubled dome anti-reflexive coated sapphire crystal – another element specific to the board instruments of a classic car. At a height of 10.10mm, the watch has a nice wrist presence, a balanced feel and a good size for most of the wrists. The case offers a water resistance of 5atm.

The dial has a nostalgic appearance. Coming in black or warm white, the watches are like a photographic negative of each other. The watches use printed Arabic numerals for the 3, 6, 9 and a double 0 for 12 o’clock. The printed minutes and seconds’ scale has a special charm. Moreover, the scale is opened around 12 o’clock emphasizing the “00” indication. The dial’s hands respect the color theme of the watch: black for the white dial and white for the black dial. For both versions, there is a long red seconds’ hand recalling the tachometer’s indication of the sports cars.

The Type 250F timepieces are powered by the robust automatic Seiko NH35 movement. This Japanese caliber has a bi-directional winding rotor which permits a fast winding by normal wearing. This movement uses 24 jewels, it has a beating heart of 3Hz (21600 vibrations per hour) and it offers 41 hours of power reserve. This caliber is widely used in many affordable timepieces being easy to service and maintain. The movement makes possible a total weight of only 55 grams.

The watches have a genuine leather strap with engraved logo. The stainless-steel pin buckle features the same engraved Direnzo logo. The Type 250F watches will have 24 months warranty.

The DRZ_Type 250f_B with a black dial and the DRZ_Type 250f_C with a white dial are a delightful combination of timeless design and an urban, modern look. Light and pleasant, the wrist feel is comfortable, the timepieces offering a good readability.
