Everyone has an adventurous spirit hidden inside. Some of us have the luck to follow this spirit and fulfil our dreams. Inspired by the books of Jules Verne, Clement Gaud, an independent designer, photographer and filmmaker based in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, took his journey to a next level. He wanted to create a watch that inspires adventures and that makes them happen – Laventure Marine.
The first series of Laventure watches are inspired by the diving watches of the 60’s, paying a tribute to the marine world. Laventure Marine was designed in Neuchâtel and manufactured in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, in two locations separated by only 18km. The watch comes in 41mm diameter steel case decorated with a game of polished and satin finishes. The beautiful case reminds of the legendary designs of the great watchmaker master Gerald Genta (the author of many modern iconic watches). The back case features a see-through crystal that reveals the beautiful Swiss movement. The screwed crown is protected by two bumps and helps to reach the excellent seal necessary to ensure a water resistance of 200m. Symmetrical, we can find a decorative bump on the other side of the case with a purely aesthetic role. The case’s design and size make the watch an excellent wrist companion.
Laventure Marine comes in three dial-colour variants. The sandwich dial uses two superimposed plates. The lower plate is covered with a beige photo-luminescent coating. The top plate features cut outs for the hour indexes. The plates together offer a spectacular low light view. The top plate bears the colour of the dial – the satin brushed surface is lacquered in blue, green or brown. The hour indexes’ cutouts and minutes’ scale are printed using a “bronze” ink with an astonishing result. The construction not only created a 3d depth effect, also offers a great legibility.
To increase the vintage look, the hands are “gilt” metallic colours in gold. The hands are skeletonized and filled with luminescent. The lovely dial is covered with a “Superdome” sapphire crystal that features an internal anti-reflective treatment.
To power the Laventure Marine it is used a well-known veteran movement, the ETA 2824-2 calibre. The movement is one of the most reliable calibres produced by ETA and can be found inside of many Swiss and not only watches. The watch uses a 4 Hz balance wheel and 25 jewels, featuring a power reserve of 42 hours. The movement has a good precision and it will be a reliable partner. The movement is nicely but machine decorated with various brushes. The oscillating weight features extra decoration, including the brand’s logo.
The watch will be delivered with two leather straps. The brand offers four variants: Light Brown, Dark Brown, Dark Green and Dark Blue. The straps are manufactured using a vegetable tanned calf leather strap that promises a fabulous patina, unique for each owner.
The LAVENTURE Marine collection is a limited series of only 150 watches, 50 of each colour: blue, green and brown. The watches are individually numbered with a beautiful and deep engraving on the case-back.
A nice touch is represented by the case in which each watch will be delivered. The watch box is inspired by the old books of Jules Verne: Les Voyages Extraordinaires. The outstanding box is beautifully crafted and can easily pass as a book in your library, or make an excellent décor on your coffee table.
The LAVENTURE watch will be delivered with a strap changing tool, the manual of use and the 2 years warranty papers. The necessary service will be carried in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, by the same people who produced the watch guaranteeing the best results.
