The Formmeister Sport is the newest watch of the Vratislavia Conceptum, a young microbrand from Wrocław, Poland. The independent polish watchmaker has now several years of experience with limited series collections. The new watches are the successors of the Formmeister collection released in 2016 and it can be considered a good example of brand maturity.
The Formmeister Sport is an elegant wristwatch, despite the “Sport” nomenclature. It has the elements of the former collection but with several improvements. The 40mm diameter steel case has the same slender, Bauhaus design inspired case. The highly polished case has long, inward curved 20mm wide lugs. The delicate lines are enriched by the excellently polished round bezel. The case’s proportions are perfect.
The case attractiveness is increased by the compelling steel crown. Shaped as a cone’s trunk, the crown has a good grip, providing effortless handling. The case is covered on top by a domed sapphire crystal with an inner anti-reflexive coating. The steel back case has a smoked grey see-through opening which reveals the Japanese movement. The screw in design bids a 50m water resistance, enough for the daily usage, but not recommended for swimming or diving.
Matching the case’s beauty, the dial has a charismatic sunburst finish. The watch is offered in two colour versions: Navy blue/Grey and Brown/Grey. The Formmeister Sport’s dial has an appealing degrade, from the darker edge of the dial to a lighter centre.
For a balanced look, the watch uses long baton metal applied indexes, accompanied by printed minutes and seconds’ indexes. A trapezoidal date window with bevelled edges is discreetly placed at 6 o’clock.
The most attractive feature of the Formmeister Sport is the power reserve indication. This is highly positioned under 12 o’clock index and uses a generous part of the dial’s upper surface. The printed indication features a 40 hours scale. The power reserve hand rotates clockwise according to energy depletion.
Powering the Formmeister Sport is the Miyota 9130 movement. The automatic calibre has 26 jewels and a beating heart of 28,800bph, offering a 40 hours power reserve (indicated on the dial). The movement is decorated with a frost finish on the main plate, Côtes de Genève on the bridges and a dial matching sunray brushing.
The watches come with highly qualitative perlon strap that fits excellently. The watch is a beautiful all-rounder, being an excellent day by day companion or a charming elegant piece for a more special occasion. Both dial versions are limited to 100 pieces each colour. The Frommeister has a price tag of US$340 with Priority Mail Service included.
